Murfreesboro elementary students got a special holiday experience when a children’s book came to life through storytelling and live performances.
Middle Tennessee State University and Gaylord Opryland Resort hosted the event Oct. 22 at MTSU’s Homer Pittard Campus School. Students heard “POMP, SNOW & CIRQUEumstance” read by its creator, Broadway director Neil Goldberg.
Students also met cast members from the holiday show, watched a preview performance, asked questions and received free copies of the book.
“When we can take a story from the pages of a book and bring it to life in a way that captures their imagination, we’re creating an experience they will remember,” said Neporcha Cone, dean of MTSU’s College of Education.
Homer Pittard Campus School is a Rutherford County public elementary school that also helps train future educators through MTSU’s College of Education.
The holiday show returns to Gaylord Opryland Resort Nov. 24 through Dec. 31 as part of the resort’s 43rd annual “A Country Christmas” celebration. The production features circus acts, illusions, music and storybook visuals.
