Get Ready for the BBQ Throwdown in Springfield

The Robertson County Fairgrounds will once again be the home of the Robertson County Fair Association’s BBQ Throwdown on June 9 and 10, 2023. The event is a Backyard Series of the Kansas City BBQ Society.

Sponsored by Cobb Hill Homes, this event offers amateurs with a great barbecue recipe, as well as pros, the opportunity to compete for prizes. There will be four categories, chicken, ribs, pork and anything butt. There will be cash prizes for first through fifth place in each category, as well as an award for Grand Champion and Reserve Champion. Complete rules are available here.

On Friday night there will be a Chicken Wing Competition with all monies raised from the entry fee of $20 to be donated to a local charity. Wings will be judged by the public via tip jar donations. The team with the most tips will receive a plaque and a $100 prize. All tips will also go to the charity.

There will also be a People’s Choice Award. A butt will be provided. Judging will be done by visitors on Friday evening, with the winner receiving a $100 prize.

The event will take place rain or shine.

Robertson County Fairground is located at 4635 US Highway 41 in Springfield, Tennessee. The event begins at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, and runs from 10:00 a.m.until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
