SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. – The City of Springfield Police Department is now accepting applications for the Citizens Police Academy set to kick off on September 14.

The free, nine-week program will be held on Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Springfield Police Department, 802 Willow Street.

The Citizens Police Academy provides individuals who live, work, or attend school in Springfield the opportunity to learn first-hand what officers do to protect and serve our city. Participants will engage in hands-on training, educational tours, and more.

“The Citizens Police Academy helps build and maintain lasting, positive relationships with the community that we serve,” said Police Chief Jason Head. “Please join us to go behind the crime scene tape and experience the daily operations of the men and women serving Springfield. According to feedback from prior participants, you won’t be disappointed!”

To apply, download the application at springfieldtn.gov/police and return it to the Springfield Police Department by August 31, 2023.
