Annual Spring Community Cleanup Returns to Springfield April 23

The City of Springfield will host its 2nd Annual Spring Community Cleanup on Saturday, April 23, 2022.

The annual event was created last year as part of the city’s mission to reduce litter, promote responsible handling of waste, and to keep Springfield beautiful. Last year, the cleanup welcomed nearly 100 volunteers who picked up over 5,900 pounds of waste!

This year’s cleanup will be bigger and better! Participants will receive breakfast at check-in when they receive their supplies, and will be entered to win one of multiple $100 gift cards.

“Springfield is part of our home; it is where we live, work, and play,” said Public Works Director Clayton Moore. “Last year’s event was a huge success, and we hope to build upon this success and see even more participation this year.”

The Annual Spring Community Cleanup is a great way to celebrate this Earth Day with your family and friends and it’s a way everyone can pitch in to keep our hometown beautiful.

The cleanup also serves as an important service opportunity for local groups, non-profit organizations, sports teams, and churches, providing people of all ages the opportunity to give back to the community.

This year’s event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon. on April 23, 2022. Volunteers will meet at Springfield City Hall, 405 North Main Street, to register or sign-in and collect their supplies before going to their assigned areas. The city has partnered with Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to provide all volunteer supplies including safety vests, bags, and gloves along with water to stay hydrated.
