The City of Springfield’s splash pad opened for the season on Saturday, May 28, 2022, for kids of all ages and is free to the public.

The splash pad opened in 2019 at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park located at 2623 S. Main Street in Springfield. The summer season for the splash runs May 28 through August 6 during the hours of 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Reduced hours will be in effect from August 7 through the end of the splash season on October 1.

“We are excited that warm weather has arrived once again so our community can enjoy the splash pad,” said Parks and Recreation Director Terry Martin.  “We encourage everyone to come out to cool off and enjoy a free, fun family experience – especially when the giant Springfield Yellow Jacket bucket fills up with water and creates a tidal wave of fun!”

Neighboring the splash pad is Springfield’s new inclusive playground with sensory features that allows children of differing ability levels to play together. The grounds and section of the equipment are also wheelchair accessible.
