Ronald Wayne Wilkerson

Ronald Wayne Wilkerson, age 78 of Greenbrier, passed away at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on December 6, 1942 in Springfield to the late Albert V. and Elizabeth Epley Wilkerson. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1960 and married the love of his life Ms. Virginia Walker on December 21, 1962. They were blessed with three loving children. Mr. Ronnie was a devout Christian and member for over 50 years at Bethel Baptist Church where he helped with World Changers by traveling out west to places like Montana and to build homes for the less fortunate. He loved reading his bible and drawing closer to the Lord. Mr. Ronnie was known for his Jesus hats and passing them out to spread the gospel.

Mr. Ronnie loved his family and worked hard for 35 years as a millwright at DuPont. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing baseball in his younger years, woodworking, and golfing with friends. Mr. Ronnie was loved by everyone who met him and enjoyed the stories he told: The family’s favorite story was when Mr. Ronnie was a famous Stick Horse trainer. He was the greatest trainer in three counties, if you wanted a good Stick Horse to ride you went to Mr. Ronnie and he could break any stick horse. His goal in life was to spread happiness and the Word of the Lord which he fulfilled many times over.

Mr. Ronnie is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Virginia Walker Wilkerson; children, Ronald Stephen (Tonya) Wilkerson, Stephanie (Timothy) Moore and Stacey (Gene) Spain; grandchildren, Wesley (Alex) Wilkerson, Lindsey Thompson, Lauren Dobbs, Kaitlunn Wilkerson, Grason Spain, Atley Spain, Alden Spain, and Mailynn Spain; four great-grandchildren, and sisters, Kathy (Billy) Goosetree and Kaye Coffelt.

A Graveside Service will be conducted at 10:30 am on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Springfield Memorial Gardens with Pastor Brandon Pugh officiating. Online condolences can be made at www.SpringfieldFH.com.
