Springfield and Robertson County first responders are teaming up with Blood Assurance to host the second annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drive in honor of the lives lost and heroes who responded during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
The community blood drive will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 11 at the National Guard Armory, located at 5255 TN-76 in Springfield.
Eligible donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment at Blood Assurance, although walk-ins will also be accepted.
All blood donations will stay local and directly benefit patients in Robertson County. According to Blood Assurance, a single donation can save up to three lives.
“Please join us in donating blood for our second annual Battle of the Badges blood drive with Blood Assurance,” Springfield Police Chief Jason Head said. “With Blood Assurance, your donation stays local and serves our communities in need of life-saving blood products. Honor 9/11 by coming together as a community to support a truly worthy cause.”
As part of the event, donors will cast a vote for their favorite local police or fire department, with the winning agency receiving a special award.
All donors will also receive an exclusive “Remember and Honor” Sept. 11 T-shirt as a thank-you gift.
The Battle of the Badges Blood Drive is a partnership between Springfield and Robertson County first responders and Blood Assurance, the primary blood supplier for most hospitals across Middle Tennessee.
