Saros Holds the Line

Montreal controlled most of the play, outshooting Nashville 34-20 and leading in 5-on-5 shot attempts. Nick Suzuki and Alex Newhook scored in the first half of the second period to put the Canadiens ahead 2-0, but Saros kept it there. Alexander Kerfoot got Nashville on the board at 15:06 of the second, and Matthew Wood tied it on a power play with 32 seconds left in the period.

Special Teams Decide It

The game stayed tied until Ryan O’Reilly scored the go-ahead goal on the power play at 16:44 of the third. Adam Edstrom then added two empty-net goals in the final 2:37 to seal it. Steven Stamkos assisted on both power-play goals, and Roman Josi logged 27:49 of ice time with two assists. Nashville was efficient with limited chances, scoring five times on 20 shots, while killing every Montreal power play.
