Her earthly journey has ended and her heavenly walk with her family and friends who have gone on before has just begun.
Sister Donna Guire, twenty-two-year pastor of the Carthage Church of God of Prophecy in the Watervale Community, made her transition at 9:03 p.m. Friday evening November 29, 2024 at the age of 77 at the Smith County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carthage where she had made her home since July 19th of this year.
Funeral services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home are scheduled to be conducted on Tuesday evening December 3rd at 6 p.m. with Rev. Eddie Croyle assisted by Bishop E. C. McKinley the officiants. The eulogy will be delivered by Missy Thornton.
Family and friends will assemble at Springfield Memorial Gardens at 4005 Memorial Boulevard in Springfield, Tennessee for the 11 a.m. graveside service on Wednesday morning December 4th with Pastor Roy Finch officiating.
The Guire family will receive friends at Sanderson in Carthage on Monday December 2nd from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. and again on Tuesday December 3rd from 3 p.m. until the 6 p.m. funeral services.
She was one of three children, two daughters and a son, born to the late World War II Army veteran, James C. Wadkins who died at the age of 68 on February 7, 1988 and Jackson County native Anna Willa Pearson Wadkins who died at the age of 91 on December 3, 2009 and was born Donna Kaye Wadkins in Springfield, TN on March 11, 1947.
Her only brother, Clifford Gene Wadkins, preceded her in death on March 9, 2000 at the age of 49.
She was saved at the age of 14 at the Church of God in Springfield.
Sis. Guire was a 1965 graduate of Robertson County High School in Springfield.
At the Cheatham County Courthouse in Ashland City on September 29, 1965, she was united in marriage to Springfield native James Willard Guire, who is also an ordained minister.
The family relocated from Greenbrier in 2002 to the Watervale Community where she accepted the pastorate of the Carthage Church of God of Prophecy. She began her preaching ministry in 1966 at the age of 19 after marriage to Bro. Guire.
Surviving in addition to her husband James, of over fifty-nine years are their two sons, Kevin Guire and wife Earlene of Cleveland, Tennessee, Keith Guire and wife Teresa of the Cades Cove Community in Blount County; sister, Norma Wadkins Thompson and husband Mike of Greenbrier, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Cody Guire and Kelsey Guire both of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Canyon Guire of Cades Cove, Maddie Guire of Cleveland, Tennessee; and one great-granddaughter, Amelia Pascuzzi of Bowling Green.
