Shirley Frances Wooden Fugate, 88, of Greenbrier, passed from this life on Wednesday April 16, 2025, at TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday April 23rd at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor Chad Phelan officiating. Interment will follow in the Owens Chapel Cemetery with Marshall Flynn Dean, Timmy Fugate, Tyler Fugate, Gabe Fugate, Ronald Fugate, and Michael Wooden serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Shirley was born May 25, 1936, in Springfield, to the late Marshall Monroe and Lois Margaret White Wooden. She was a homemaker and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Greenbrier. Shirley enjoyed gardening and sewing. She was a great mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Joe Fugate, by her son: Cecil Ray Dean, by her stepdaughter: Lisa Bond, and by her brother: William Marshall “Bill” Wooden.

Shirley is survived by her sons: Robert Earl Dean and Marshall Flynn Dean both of Greenbrier, by her stepchildren: Diana Hague, John Fugate, Ronald (Frances) Fugate, Jenessa Fugate, and Julie (Tommy) Malcolm, by her brother and sisters-in-law: Tommy Eugene and Faye Wooden of Maryville, Barbara Wooden of the Owens Chapel community, by her sister: Lola Fay Wooden Cook of the Owens Chapel community, and by her 19 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
