Samuel Wrenn “Daddy Sam” Rice, 84, of Greenbrier, passed from this life on Thursday February 6, 2025, at his home.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday February 10th at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Reverend Jason Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Sharon Cemetery with Richard Washer, Ty Watts, Shawn Jones, Jordan Moore, Ervin Brown, and Bill James serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Bradigan, Frank Raines, Donnie Edwards, Sterling Edwards, and Don Williams. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Sam was born December 9, 1940, in Nashville, to the late Hubert Wrenn and Elizabeth Madell Taylor Rice. He was a graduate of Isaac Litton High School Class of 1959. Sam was a retired sales rep with Tisco, he owned and operated Model Tractor company in Springfield from 1974 until 1985, and he was a member of Springfield First United Methodist Church. He loved restoring cars, boating, being on the water and being outdoors, and in his younger days he enjoyed racing cars at Union Hill Racetrack. Sam was a handyman of all trades and he had a heart of service for his fellow man that included going on mission trips and always being willing to help anyone that he could.
Sam is survived by the love of his life, his wife Elva Jean Allbert Rice, and they would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on February 7th, by his daughter and son-in-law: Stacey and Jon Moore of Greenbrier, by his son and daughter-in-law: Scott and Heather Rice of Greenbrier, by his grandchildren: Hannah Moulton, Callie Moulton, Jordan Moore, Hayden Rice, and Addie Rice, by his great grandchildren: Wes and Ella Gossage, by his sister and brother-in-law: Elizabeth and Roger Williams of Joelton, and by his sister-in-law: Diane Cathey of Hendersonville.
