Ruby Lois McGill Whittington, 84, of Springfield, passed from this life on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.

Ruby was born August 4, 1939, in Daisy, OK, to the late Roth and Lillie McGill.

She was a retired Texas teacher’s assistant, and was a member of Springfield Baptist Church, where she loved being a part of Lisa Cobb & Connie Hogan’s Sunday School class.

Ruby left this world to be reunited with her husband Paul, the love of her life. She had an infinite love for all her family, and she loved the Lord with every ounce of her heart. A true prayer warrior and witness for Christ, gentle as the sweet magnolia and strong as steel in her faith. She journaled every day of her life, and one of the last entries was “You make a way in each life where there does not seem to be a way, because Jesus, you are the way, the truth and life.” We know she is in Heaven now, and she has heard the words “well done, my good and faithful servant.” She will be truly missed by all.

Ruby is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Deborah and Stuart Williams of Springfield, by her sons and daughters-in-law: Danny and Cathy Whittington, Larry and Sandy Whittington, by her sister: Boots Hatridge of Oklahoma, by her nine grandchildren, by her six great-grandchildren (#7 to arrive in September), and many other family members who deeply loved her.

If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to Springfield Baptist Church.
