Richard Moreshead, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2023, at the age of 75. He was born on March 15, 1948, in Springfield, and spent his childhood surrounded by the love of his family.
Richard devoted his life to his family and was a dedicated father to two wonderful children, Mark and Lisa. He loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren, who knew him as the coolest grandpa. Richard had a passion for gardening and was known in the neighborhood for his vibrant flowers and lush vegetable garden.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Nancy, his son Mark (Emily), and his daughter Lisa (David). Richard also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren, Jake, Mia, Sam, Lily, and Max, along with his sister, Susan, and numerous friends and relatives who will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 6, from 5 PM to 7 PM at the Springfield Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 7, at 10 AM, followed by a burial service at the Springfield Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Springfield Food Bank in Richard’s honor to continue his legacy of helping those in need.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Springfield Medical Center for their compassionate care during Richard’s final days.
