Paul "Pee-Paw" Bracey Sr.

Paul Phineas “Pee-Paw” Bracey, Sr., 96, of “Bracey Town” in Greenbrier, departed this life on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Morningside of Springfield.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 8th at 2:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Reverend Kim Moore, Bob Adcox, and Tim Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Sharon Cemetery with Brent Bracey, Logan Bracey, Brandon Duffer, Jason Duffer, Lynn Empson, Randy Ford, Randy Wilson, and Andy Teasley serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tristan Duffer, Deason Duffer, Homer Felts, and J.L. Alley, Jr. The family will receive friends on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Bracey was born June 23, 1925, on his parent’s farm in “Bracey Town” in Greenbrier. He was a graduate of Greenbrier High School Class of 1944. Mr. Bracey was a lifelong farmer. He loved raising tobacco, as well as other crops, and raising his cattle.

As a child, he attended Cross Roads Baptist Church, and in 1950 he joined Mt. Sharon Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon, Elder, and was a member of the Cemetery Committee for many years. Mr. Bracey loved people and was well known for playing pranks on people anytime that he could. He was a Boy Scout Leader and was the recipient of the Long Rifle Award. He served his community and his County well throughout his life. He was a member of Farm Bureau since 1960, was a County Commissioner for 16 years, was a member of the Planning and Zoning Board for 42 years, worked with the Robertson County Election Commission in local elections, was a tobacco grader, worked at various Loose Floors during tobacco season, and worked with the ASCS office in measuring tobacco.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Pauline Pratt Bracey, by his son: Paul P. “Dickie” Bracey, Jr., and by his sister: Dorothy Poole. Mr. Bracey is survived by his daughter: Paulette Bracey Duffer (Dale Owen) of Greenbrier, his grandchildren: Brent (Kristi) Bracey of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Brandon (Elizabeth) Duffer of Franklin, KY, and Jason (Lacy) Duffer of Greenbrier, by his great-grandchildren: Logan Bracey, Tristan Duffer, and Deason Duffer, by his sister: Evelyn Bracey Empson of Springfield, and by his daughter-in-law: Judy Bracey Parham of Greenbrier.

If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Sharon Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Mr. Bracey’s memory or to Morningside of Springfield for the Paul Bracey Memorial that will be done at a future date. All donations can be sent c/o Robertson County Funeral Home.
