Atrail Secrest Pillow was born on July 10, 1932, to the late James Secrest and Aline Ogilvie Secrest. She attended Sinner State and Carver Smith Schools. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lem Pillow; her son, Lemuel Pillow; her sister, Marjorie Secrest Birmingham; twin brothers, Allen James Secrest and Albert Will Secrest; her brother, Eddie B. Secrest; and her great-great-grandson, Kavius Jones.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Linda Gail Pillow and Lisa Pillow Webster; two sons, Rufus (Mary) Pillow and Rev. Travis (Freda) Pillow; two sisters, Lena Bell Secrest Houston and Samella Secrest Lemay; one sister-in-law, Barbara Pillow; ten grandchildren, Chaz Holt, Porchus (Yocheka), Tavaries Pillow, Lem Marqui Pillow, Trovaski Holt Chandler, Kiera Webster, Lemetria Pillow, Javon Frierson Pillow, Keondris Jones, and Deontra Hurt; eleven great-grandchildren, Cebrione Webster, Javarious Pillow, Kyjia Pillow, Jaden Pillow, Khalen Webster, Kingston Jones, Karter Jones, Kennisyn Biffle, Iris Jones, Kayleb Boone, and Kimika Boone; and one great-great-grandchild, Angelo Pillow. She also leaves a special nephew, Kerry Whittaker, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
The family extends special appreciation to the caregivers and friends who assisted her children with transportation to doctor’s appointments and provided support and care: Linda Cathey, Kebra Martin, Romona Secrest, Robert “Boo” Gentry, Howard Baxter, and Kenny Biffle.
