Mary Ellen Baker, age 90, of Springfield, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2026. Funeral services will be conducted at 1pm Monday, February 16th, in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield. Burial will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 3-8pm Sunday, and again from 11am until time of the service at 1pm Monday, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Baker was born February 3, 1936, in Springfield, to the late Raymond Clarence Mayo, and the lates Addie Marie Ogg Mayo. She worked at Electrolux for many years and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Baker; son, Danny Ray Baker; grandson, Matthew Edward Harris; 6 brothers, Homer Mayo, Wilburn Mayo, Howard Mayo, Norman Mayo, Orman Mayo and James Mayo; and 3 sisters, Lorene Abernathy, Mildred Hettick and Nadene Martin.
She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Mitchell, Vicki Harris and Mary Jane (Joseph) Harris; 7 grandchildren, Timmy (Candace) Wilkerson, Danny Wayne (Mary) Mitchell, Roggie Hulsey, Jessica Williams, Coty B. (Ashley) Harris, Dusty Harris and Michaela (Austin) Laborg; 10 great grandchildren, Presley Wilkerson, Danica Mitchell, Scotty Felts, Shelby Hulsey, Jayden Williams, Kaylen Williams, Caleb Hernandez, Kiya Turner, Bentley Pennington and Marley Harris; and 4 great great grandchildren, Langsten Felts, Ledger James Cardwell, Mateo Urbano and Camilla Urbano.
Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of these arrangements.
