OBITUARY: Mae McCraw

1

Mae Adams McCraw, 83, passed away on Monday, Oct. 19, 2026 at a rehabilitation facility in Cheatham County, TN.

She was born April 10, 1943 to the late Johnnie B. Adams and the late Ozie Holman Adams. Mae was also preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Cook and a brother, Bruce Adams.

Mae was a 1961 graduate of East Robertson High School where she was active in 4-H, Beta Club, basketball, home economics and various other organizations.

She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, where she was in the Women’s II Sunday School Class and was on the hospitality committee in her younger years.

Mae enjoyed being at home on the family farm her entire life. She helped on the farm with tobacco, livestock and was not a stranger to hard work, inside the house or out. There was always a large garden and food to preserve. She was a wonderful cook and was especially known for her cookies. She always was able to share her “goodies” with friends and family and often sent “sweet treats” to all those around her. This was her way of showing appreciation for what you had done, or just a simple sweet way to tell you she loved you.

Mae enjoyed a good meal and shared that with everyone, including the many years she spent caring for other people’s children. She was often referred to as Aunt Mae, or Granny Mae even by ones that were of no relation.

Mae is survived by her daughters, Cindy Vickroy, Springfield and Patricia (David) Pipkin, Medina, TN, and by four grandchildren Adam Pipkin, Lenoir City, TN, Daniel Pipkin, Murfreesboro, TN, Mason Vickroy, Murfreesboro, TN, and Molly Vickroy, North Carolina. She is also survived by all of her nieces and nephews and their families.

Visitation is set for Thursday, Oct. 22, 4-8 pm and Friday beginning at 9 am with the service at 10 am on Friday morning, Oct. 23, 2026 in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home, with Mason Vickroy, Adam Pipkin, Daniel Pipkin, Jonathon Adams, David Adams and Bruce Bishop serving as pallbearers.

Mae will be buried by her parents in Greenlawn Cemetery, Franklin, Ky.
