Lillian Evelyn Spry Barnes, age 87 of Cross Plains went home to be with the Lord, Monday, December 14, 2025 at Stone Creek Memory Care in Hendersonville. She was born September 13, 1938 In Hollow Spring, TN to Carl Vernon & Crystal Leonia Duke Spry.
She was employed with Mat-Co Business Forms as a bindery worker in her earlier years. She played basketball in high school and was voted most athletic. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching her grandchildren play all kinds of sports. She followed numerous teams, but especially loved the Atlanta Braves and the Vanderbilt Commodores.
Her family was the most important thing to her and she loved them deeply. She was a member of Beacon Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ollen Spry; sisters, Dee Dee Goins and Shirley Jones.
She is survived by her husband, George Thurman Barnes; children, Mike (Deena) Barnes, Lisa (Ricky) Morris, Randy (Keri) Barnes and Crystal (Chuck) O’Brien; brothers, O’Neal Spry and Ronnie Spry; sister, Joyce Smith; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service is scheduled for 11am Thursday, December 18, 2025 at 11am in Woodlawn Memorial Park with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, December 17, 2025 4pm-8pm at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House.
