Joyce Ann Reeves, age 83, of Cross Plains, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Brookdale Assisted Living in Goodlettsville.
Joyce Ann was born October 31, 1941, in Cross Plains to the late Leonard and Velma Barry Tate. She was born on the farm and was raised to work in the fields and to attend church and was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Joyce Ann graduated from East Robertson High School in 1960 and was the class Valedictorian.
She chose secretarial work as her profession, and started the first day after graduation working for the State of Tennessee. She worked in Personnel, Inheritance Income Tax, and the Department of Human Services for 15 years, holding a top position in Inheritance Income Department. She retired from the State and became co-owner of a small grocery, Reeves Bi-Rite, where she worked for 15 years and always loved her customers.
After the business was sold in 1986, she worked in the lab at Jesse Holman Jones Hospital and then at NorthCrest Medical Center for the next 16 years of her life. Joyce Ann retired early in order to care for her elderly parents, and was able to enjoy three wonderful years with them before their death. She then got to share time with Iva, Chris, and her grandchildren, which she treasured. Joyce Ann loved working in her yard and, most of all, having the time to thank the Lord for His many blessings.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Thomas Tate, and by her sister, Datha Tate Munday.
Joyce Ann is survived by her daughter: Iva Reeves Biggs and husband Chris of Springfield, and by her grandchildren: Sadie, Josh, Laura, David, and Jacob Biggs all of Springfield.
