John Austin Bracey, 92, of Goodlettsville, passed from this life on Friday July 25, 2025, at The Residence at Alive Hospice in Nashville. A private family committal service will be conducted in Springfield Memorial Gardens.
John was born March 27, 1933, in Springfield, to the late John Cole and Avo Hackney Bracey. He was a graduate of Springfield High School Class of 1951. John served in the U.S. Army, was a retired Vice President of the Leaf Division of Conwood Corporation and was a member of First Baptist Church in Hendersonville.
John shared two passions in his life, the love he had for his family and the love he had for his horses. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Jean Bracey Meadows, June Bracey McClanahan, and Bettye Rawls Alley.
John is survived by his wife of 38 years: Suzy W. Bracey, by his daughters: Jana Bracey West (John), and Ava Bracey Hing (Brian Harris), by his stepson: Andy Knifley (Riley), by his grandchildren: Austin Everett West (Katie), John Bailey West (Shelby), and Brett Knifley, and by his great grandchildren: Easton Everett West and Bennett Dean West.
If so desired, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Bracey to the First Baptist Church in Hendersonville or to Alive Hospice in Nashville. All donations can be sent c/o Robertson County Funeral Home.
