James Donaldson Spain, Sr., age 82, of Greenbrier, passed away Monday, July 21, 2025 at Northcrest Medical Center. Graveside services will be conducted at 10am Saturday, July 26th at Springfield Memorial Gardens with Bro. Phillip Trent officiating. Pallbearers will be Matthew Spain, Emery Spain, Jason Spain, Chris Conquest, Nick Keith, and Jimmy Ratzer, and Billy Brown will serve as an Honorary Pallbearer.
The family will receive friends from 4-8pm Friday, July 25th at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier.
Mr. Spain was born August 16, 1942 in Joelton, TN, to the late Emerson Leon Spain and the late June Gregory Peay Spain. He was a retired Lineman and Field Superintendent for Nashville Electric, having served for 37 ½ years.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Spain was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Gay Spain; son, James D. Spain, Jr.; grandson, Chad Spain; brother, Charles Raymond Spain; and his sister, Ann Gregory Spain.
He is survived by sons, Frank (Joy) Spain and Greg (Stephanie) Spain; daughters, Carlene Veigel and Penny Spain; 6 grandchildren, Matthew, Shelby, Mallory, Emery, Jacqueline and Josh; 3 great grandchildren, Noah, Finley and Kaylee.
Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier is in charge of these arrangements.
