Emma Jean Horner, age 90 of Cottontown passed away Saturday, October 4, 2025 at her home. She was born November 24, 1934 in Goodlettsville, TN to Odie and Janie Reed Johnson, Sr.
She worked as a homemaker and was a member of Portland Seventh Day Adventist Church, where she served as a deaconess until the last couple of years. She enjoyed taking care of people and being involved in church activities. She took care of her husband during the end of his life with such love and care.
She loved playing with her grandchildren, when they were young and had kept children for many people, so they could work. She was an avid reader, loved trying new recipes and cooking and enjoyed crocheting.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy J. Horner; son, Hugh Rex Horner; granddaughter, Tammy Allen; 4 brothers, Johnny Duncan, Odie Johnson, Jr., Franky Johnson and Jimmy Johnson; 2 sisters, Lucy Davenport and Lillie Brinkley; son-in-law, Chuck Allen.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary (Doug) Adkins, Barren Plains, TN and Kay Allen (Gary) Crutcher, Portland, TN; 5 grandchildren, Katrina (Eric) Herring, Martin (KT) Allen, Kelly (Darren) Allen-Debaillon, Mackenzie Adkins and Kevin Adkins; 2 great-grandchildren, Eric Herring, Jr. and Jaya Herring; a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service is scheduled for Friday, October 10, 2025 at 1:30pm in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House. Interment will follow in Old Brush Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation is planned for Friday, October 10, 2025 11am-1:30pm at the funeral home.
