Elizabeth Bagwell McClard, 93, of Franklin, KY, passed from this life on Friday March 6, 2026, at her home. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday March 10th at 2:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Dr. Steve Freeman officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery with John Bagwell, Bobby Bagwell, Ian Higgins, Jared Bolton, Joey Bell, and Terry Bell serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Ms. Elizabeth was born in Robertson County on March 17, 1932. She and her husband, Joe, owned and operated McClard’s IGA in Ridgetop for many years. Ms. Elizabeth enjoyed sewing, playing the lotto and slot machines, and traveling to Tucson, Arizona every year following their retirement. She was a great yodeler and her husband always called her his “cornbread queen”, as she was a great cook. Ms. Elizabeth loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a Christian lady that enjoyed life and was always known for being both classy and sassy.
She was preceded in death by her father: Walter Bagwell, by her mother: Bessie Florence Ellis Davidson, and by her brothers: Vincent Bagwell, Joe Bagwell, James Bagwell, Roy Bagwell, and Billy Bagwell. Ms. Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 75 years: Joe McClard of Franklin, KY, by her daughters: Sheila McClard Clement and husband Dwain of Ridgetop, Angela McClard Sloan of Franklin, KY, Gina McClard Swallow and husband Scott of Franklin, KY, by her brothers: John Bagwell and wife Sherry of Greenbrier, Bobby Bagwell of Bowling Green, KY, by her sisters: Norma Sowell of Smithville, Nancy Heatherly and husband Lewis of Springfield, by her six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and her two great great grandchildren.
