Last weekend, heavy rain in Williamson County turned into an unexpected rescue for “Cobra Kai” star Martin Kove, who says firefighters arrived by boat after floodwaters surrounded his Franklin-area property.
Kove, best known for playing John Kreese in “The Karate Kid” films and Netflix’s “Cobra Kai,” shared the experience on social media.
“Well I had to evacuate my house in Nashville. They had to bring a boat up to my front door. We made it out. My new dog Winston and my lady and house are fine. But God bless the fire department first responders they showed that flood no mercy!” Kove wrote.
The flooding occurred Saturday after heavy rain caused Five Mile Creek to rise around Kove’s property, Fox 17 reported. Kove said the water came within about 10 feet of his home and surrounded the property, prompting the boat evacuation. Kove was able to get out safely along with his new puppy, Winston, and others at the home. While floodwaters did not enter the house, outdoor furniture and fencing were damaged.
The actor said he had lived at the property for several years and had experienced flash flood warnings before, but nothing of this magnitude.
Kove also praised the firefighters and first responders who came to his aid, borrowing a phrase closely associated with his famous “Karate Kid” character to say they showed the flood “no mercy.”
Williamson County Emergency Management Agency shared about the rescue on Twitter stating, The @WCSO_Sheriff, @FranklinFire, @WilcoFireRescue, and @WCTNEMA worked together to check on residents and assist with evacuations after flooding along Five-Mile Creek. Williamson County 911 supported the response by managing emergency calls and coordinating radio traffic.”
