City of Springfield Enhances Crowd Safety with New Archer 1200 Mobile Barriers

218

The City of Springfield has taken a major step to improve safety at public events by introducing the Archer 1200 Mobile Barrier system – a state-of-the-art solution designed to protect pedestrians from potential vehicle threats at crowded gatherings. The barriers were deployed for the first time at Freedom Fest and again at 1st Fridays, offering both physical protection and peace of mind for attendees.

Developed by Meridian Rapid Defense Group, the Archer 1200 Mobile Barrier is a certified, crash-tested mobile barrier that can be deployed in under 10 minutes without the need for heavy machinery, power, or permanent installation. Built from ballistic-grade steel, each unit is designed to stop and absorb the impact of a moving vehicle, offering unmatched safety while maintaining pedestrian access and emergency vehicle entry.

“Our top priority is the safety of our residents and visitors,” said Police Chief Jason Head. “The Archer 1200 gives us the ability to provide highly effective protection that’s fast to deploy and adaptive to any event layout. With the addition of the Meridian Archer 1200 barrier to our public safety response, we’re actively increasing security at city events, ensuring they’re safe and welcoming for everyone.”

The barriers are used by cities throughout the country for parades, festivals, markets, and sporting events. The City of Springfield plans to continue using them at future events, including 1st Fridays and the Springfield Christmas Parade.
