The White House Police Department said the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) has been notified and is actively monitoring the area while conducting patrols.

Authorities advise residents not to approach, feed, or attempt to interact with bears if spotted. To reduce the chances of attracting wildlife, officials recommend securing garbage in bear-resistant containers or keeping trash indoors until collection day. Outdoor food sources, including pet food, bird feeders, and livestock feed, should also be removed when possible.

If a bear is seen, residents are encouraged to keep a safe distance and allow the animal space to move away on its own. Pet owners are also advised to supervise animals while outdoors and keep them on a leash when possible.

In the event of a close encounter, officials say people should remain calm, slowly back away, and avoid running.

The White House Police Department is asking for the community’s cooperation as TWRA continues monitoring the sightings and working to ensure public safety.
