A Madison man has been indicted on a theft charge following an investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
TBI special agents began investigating allegations involving Nicholas Stepter, 19, in March.
On Aug. 20, agents presented evidence to a Robertson County Grand Jury involving a washed or forged check deposited at a bank in Madison. The grand jury indicted Stepter on one count of attempted theft over $10,000 and under $60,000.
Stepter turned himself in to the Robertson County Jail on Sept. 2 and was booked on a $20,000 bond.
