Volunteers Fall Short in Heartbreaking Overtime Loss to Georgia

Chris Brazzell II delivered a spectacular performance with three touchdowns and 177 receiving yards, including touchdown catches of 72, 14, and 56 yards. The junior receiver gave Tennessee an early 21-7 lead and kept the Volunteers in the game throughout with his explosive plays.

The Volunteers controlled the first quarter behind their high-tempo offense, building the 21-7 advantage before Georgia’s methodical approach began wearing down Tennessee’s defense. Star Thomas provided a strong ground game with 60 yards on nine carries, including a 27-yard burst.

Tennessee’s defense generated four sacks and forced one fumble but couldn’t create enough stops when needed. Caleb Herring led the pass rush with 1.5 sacks, while the secondary intercepted one pass but allowed big plays throughout the contest.

The heartbreak came in overtime when Max Gilbert’s 43-yard field goal gave Tennessee the lead, only to watch Georgia answer with a touchdown. Gilbert had earlier missed a 43-yard attempt that would have won the game in regulation.
