Larry Wayne Simmons Obit

Larry Wayne Simmons, age 86, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 14, 2025 at White House Health Care. Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm Tuesday, February 18th, in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield, with Bro. Frank Kirby and Rev. Chris Seifert officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in White House with Wayne Reburn, David Crawley, Carey Fairless, Jamie Holloway, Matt Hughey, Larry Smith, Michael Vaughn, and Samuel Holloway serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 2-7pm Monday, and again from 11am until time of the service at 2pm Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Mr. Simmons was born April 12, 1938, in Cross Plains, TN, to the late Gill and Lorraine Mason Simmons. He graduated from East Robertson High School and continued his education at the University of Tennessee at Martin. Mr. Simmons served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps before beginning the study of law at the Nashville School of Law. He began an illustrious career as an Attorney in 1970, and served as the City Attorney for Adams, TN and the City Judge in Springfield, TN during his 46 year long law career. In addition to practicing law, he enjoyed farming on his family’s farm near White House. Mr. Simmons was a member of Connell Memorial United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite and the York Rite, the Kiwanis Club, and the Tennessee Bar Association.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his wife of 29 years, Mary Evelyn Simmons; and a brother-in-law, Earl Keith.

He is survived by his sister, Margie Simmons Keith, of Springfield; nieces, Sheila Keith (Wayne) Reburn of Murfreesboro, and Sandra Keith (David) Crawley of Springfield; great-nephew, Jamie Holloway of Murfreesboro; great-nieces, Ashley Hughey and Brittany Smith of Murfreesboro, Alesia Vaughn and Emily Crawley of Springfield; and 9 great great nieces and nephews.
