The family will receive friends on Saturday March 29th from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Gordon was born October 16, 1948, in Clarksville, to the late Gordon Keith and Mildred Davis Powell. He was a graduate of Clarksville High School Class of 1966, was a member of the National PLOTT Hound Association, and was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. Gordon began his working career building and painting steel towers and working on the pipeline across the Country. Because he so loved being outdoors and being an enthusiast in woodsman ship, he retired as a timber logger. Gordon was a hound’s man, and he always enjoyed hunting especially for bears, coons, and squirrels. He was always smart and inquisitive and was a man that enjoyed history and reading. Gordon never met a stranger and was always a mentor to those around him, especially to younger people. His door was always open and you were welcome in his home whether you had two legs or four legs. Gordon was a friend to all and if you were his friend, he was always your best friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Joseph Davis Powell and by his grandson: Wyatt Layne Powell. Gordon is survived by his children: Jesse (Tara) Powell of Adams, Kyle Powell Wallace of Adams, and Matt (Leanna) Powell of Cedar Hill, by his grandchildren: Everett Cole Wallace, Aleeah Peyton Powell, Gunner Slade Hagenbuch, Lyla Grace Hurst, Ezekiel James Hurst, Axel Ray Powell, and Paisley Rae Powell, by his sisters: Irene Powell Hudson of Springfield and Beth Powell Mitchell of Springfield, and by his nephews: Joey Powell, Chris Powell, Keith Powell, and Robert Hurtt.
If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation and may be sent c/o the Robertson County Funeral Home.
