The City of White House Parks and Recreation Department has received a $539,500 grant from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation’s (TDEC) Office of Outdoor Recreation. This significant funding, provided through the Local Parks and Recreation Fund (LPRF), will support vital enhancements at Municipal Park.
The grant will be used to:
Construct a parking lot for the dog park.
Renovate the concession stand at the baseball/softball quad.
Develop a storage and meeting room building.
Install a shade structure.
Improve tennis courts.
Add site amenities throughout the park.
The LPRF program, administered by TDEC, provides state funding to match local government investments in recreation projects and land purchases for parks, natural areas, greenways, and recreational facilities. All funded projects must be situated on publicly owned land. This year, the Office of Outdoor Recreation announced $21,017,000 in grants to 27 communities across Tennessee, including White House.
“The LPRF program is a critical resource that the Office of Outdoor Recreation manages to help expand access to recreational opportunities in our local communities,” said Brian Clifford, director of the Office of Outdoor Recreation. “These grants directly contribute to improving the quality of life, health, and economy in our cities and counties.”
“Communities across the state need resources to provide Tennesseans with excellent recreational opportunities, and these grants support those projects,” added Greer Tidwell, deputy commissioner for the Bureau of Conservation at TDEC. “The grants and local teamwork our Tennessee legislators established in this funding program will continue to support many exciting new features at the local level.”
The City of White House is grateful to TDEC and the Office of Outdoor Recreation for their partnership in making these enhancements possible. These improvements will further the city’s mission to provide exceptional recreational opportunities and foster community well-being.
