The Fire Cured Festival planned for August 23 and 24 has been canceled,according to their Instagram page. It was promoted as an immersive experience celebrating all things smoke and fire cured.
“Unfortunately we have encountered some unforeseen hurdles related to hosting the inaugural Fire Cured Festival,” says their announcement. “After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the event to a date in 2025. It is of utmost importance to us for everyone involved – sponsors, vendors, entertainers, volunteers, staff, event goers – to have the best possible experience in Springfield at the Fire Cured Festival and we feel confident that taking the extra time to work through these unforeseen hurdles will ensure a positive experience in our community. Please stay tuned for additional details in the coming months. We appreciate your support and understanding as we make this difficult decision.”
The event is still noted as happening on some outlets, including Eventbright. To watch for future details, check here. It was to be produced by Real Springfield, the city’s tourism arm.
The day and a half long festival was to feature all things fire cured – fire cured meat, fire cured beverages, fire cured tobacco, fire art, fire activities, fire safety and more. It was to open with a VIP, over 21 event offering cigar tasting and educational sessions featuring Toscano Cigars of Rome, Italy. The next day there was going to be a tractor show, demonstrations, live music, food trucks, a kids’ zone, plus optional opportunities to ride in a helicopter and to enjoy adult food and beverage pairings. There was also going to be a vendor area.
