The City of Springfield is seeking artists to create designs that can be reproduced as a vinyl wrap and applied to utility boxes throughout the city.
There is no theme, however artists should integrate the front, back, sides, and top of the box in their design.
This opportunity is open to artists of all levels who live in Springfield or Robertson County and are at least 14 years old.
The project is designed to enhance neighborhood and community identity, turn ordinary spaces into community landmarks, and promote community dialogue.
Artists are invited to submit entries online here. All submissions are due by Nov. 7, 2022. Final artwork must be submitted as a high-quality digital file.
Finalists will be selected and the public will have the chance to vote for their favorite designs Nov. 14-28, 2022. Winners will be announced on Dec. 1, 2022, and installation is expected to be completed by the end of December.
“We are excited to transform utility boxes into distinctive works of art,” said Springfield Public Works Director Clayton Moore. “Not only does this project celebrate local artists but it also contributes to the beautification of Springfield.”
